To help you get ahead of the New Year game, I’m providing you with 10 tried and true tips to help you prepare for success by January.

“Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals.”-Jim Rohn

planning for success

Have you thought about how you want 2025 to be like for you?

Or how you want to BE for 2025?

While we may all have the best of intentions come January 1st to set up a goal and follow through, we typically find that by mid-February those intentions tend to fall flat.

We’ve ALL been there!

So, how can we fix that??

By first defining what success is, I’d like to show you some ways that you can begin TODAY to get a head start on your 2025 goals.

How do you define success?

We all probably have different ways in which we define success.  And, it can be quite personal, too (childhood wounds and all that).

We set goals. And we either reach that goal…or we don’t.

But is that the only way to measure success?

Nope.

Success can also be measured by means of:

  • Fulfillment and Happiness: Seeing success as a state of contentment and fulfillment regardless of external achievements.
  • Personal Growth: Continuous learning and self-improvement to become a better version of yourself over time.
  • Balance: Achieving balance between the various aspects of life—career, family, health, and hobbies—can also be seen as success. It’s about living a well-rounded, satisfying life.
  • Impact on Others: How we positively impact others, whether through relationships, community service, or leaving a legacy.
  • Resilience: Success can also be seen in how you overcome challenges and setbacks, showing persistence and resilience in the face of adversity.

Which of these measurements most ring true for you?

While each measurement of success is important, when it comes to setting goals for the New Year most people tend to lean on goal-setting, personal growth, and fulfillment.

10 tips to help prepare for success:

1. Journal:

Writing down your thoughts, goals, and reflections can be a powerful tool for self-awareness. Start journaling daily or weekly to track your progress, express your emotions, and set clear intentions for the year ahead. A journal helps you stay mindful and focused on your journey toward success.

2. Meditate:

Meditation is a great way to cultivate a calm and focused mind. A few minutes each day can reduce stress, increase clarity, and improve decision-making. By practicing mindfulness, you can clear mental clutter and make space for new goals and ideas.

3. Read:

Success often comes from knowledge. Pick up books that inspire and challenge you, whether they’re related to personal development, your profession, or new areas of interest. Reading not only broadens your perspective but also keeps your mind sharp.  See below for a book recommendation!

4. Hire a Coach:

Sometimes you need guidance to reach the next level. Hiring a coach can provide personalized strategies, accountability, and motivation. Whether it’s a life coach, career coach, or fitness trainer, expert guidance can help you achieve your goals faster and with more focus (to see if you’d like to work with me, you can schedule a free discovery call here).

5. Self-Care:

Success isn’t just about work and achievement; it’s also about taking care of yourself. Prioritize self-care by getting enough rest, nurturing your body with good food, and finding activities that recharge your spirit. Remember, you’re your greatest asset.

6. Exercise:

Physical health supports mental health. Establish a regular exercise routine to boost your energy, improve focus, and manage stress. Exercise releases endorphins, which can improve your mood and set a positive tone for the day, making you more productive and resilient.

7. Learn a New Skill:

Challenge yourself to grow by learning something new. Whether it’s a skill related to your career or a hobby you’ve always wanted to try, continuous learning keeps you adaptable and forward-thinking; qualities that are key to long-term success.  Personally, I’ve enjoyed using Duolingo to learn new languages.

8. Build Mental Strength:

Mental resilience is the foundation of lasting success. Practice strategies like visualization, affirmations, or cognitive reframing to strengthen your mindset. A strong mind can push through challenges and maintain motivation even when the going gets tough (I can help with mindset work, as well.  Book a discovery call today!).

9. Practice Gratitude:

Gratitude is a powerful mindset shift. Regularly reflecting on what you’re thankful for helps you stay positive, increases resilience, and fosters a sense of contentment. Start or end your day by listing three things you’re grateful for to cultivate a success-oriented mindset.  You’ll get an immediate “win”!

10. Commit:

None of the above are going to work, if you don’t commit to doing them. Plan and schedule which you are going to focus on for the next two months and make a commitment to yourself to ensure they get done. Maybe write yourself a contract and sign it!

Success

Since I believe there’s always room for improvement, I like to think of myself as someone who is always striving to learn and to be a better version of me. Which includes better ways to serve you (please feel free to comment for other topics you’d like me to cover)!

I’m always reading personal development books (currently reading Atomic Habits, by James Clear).

And in fact…starting in January, I, along with a fellow-coach, will be launching a new book club membership! More to come on this, but we’re both so excited to bring this new membership to you!

Please be sure to follow for updates on this membership!

I hope these tips proved helpful for you as you prepare for a successful start of the New Year!
